About Me

Hello, I am Asher Reed (they/them/theirs).

I am a productive and self-sufficient 2D illustrator and graphic designer with excellent on-the-job experience in inventory management and customer service.
I am detail-oriented and motivated with excellent creative thinking, decision-making, and communication skills in both group and independent settings.
Currently seeking a position wherein learning new tasks and advancing knowledge is a priority as well as growth and future opportunities.

I intend to create stories that unlock people's passions in life and inspire them to do their best every single day. I hope that my art is something viewers can grow and change with; come back and re-experience in a new light every time. As someone who draws inspiration from their own life and experiences, I know the importance of having a form of media to connect with and share. I want to create stories that are both engaging and compelling with relatable characters and motives that help viewers through their struggles and give them comfort as others have done for me.
Biography
I was born in and grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. Throughout my childhood, I had always been a natural born artist; I was always drawing, creating, and consuming media that inspired me. At just age 12, I had decided on what I wanted to be in life: a cartoonist. From then on, I focused on school as much as possible and ended up graduating high school in 2019 with 250+ volunteer hours and my AA from dual enrollment. In May 2022, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Emerging Media Experimental Animation at the University of Central Florida.
All throughout high school, I was in a graphic design program (at Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School at Seminole) where I worked on freelance projects for local companies. Through this program, I had designed the 50th Anniversary Pow Wow Parade & Festival logo and was given the opportunity to take on a paid internship. That summer, I worked for the City of Seminole Recreation Center as their sole graphic designer. I created the PLAYZONE Fall 2018 catalog, multiple shirt designs, local advertisements, video

showcases, and captured many photographs of events throughout my time there. I was also given the chance to work with the Gus A. Stavros Institute on designing an area in Finance Park for my program. My graphic design work has been exhibited throughout the City of Seminole through their recreation department and the Pinellas County School Board. I still continue to work in graphic design through freelance with companies and individuals such as Mike Rivera: America's Most Hilarious Teacher.

Throughout college, I worked on various different group projects, anywhere from designing murals in Downtown Orlando to a 3D rendered teahouse from scratch. My most recent project is an original 2D short film called Ollie: The Perfect Spot, in which I was director, lead storyboard artist, character and concept creator. All of these projects have granted me experience in time management, team-building, leadership, along with experience in many different fields and software programs.

I have also begun doing freelance photography, including concert posters and senior photos for my friend and wonderful composer, Kris Zaballero.

Outside of my career in animation, I constantly immerse myself in new forms of media, including photography, film, and graphic design, and aim to bring attention to the arts and their importance.

I believe art and creation is inherently human and should embrace that. Everyone is an artist in their own way and art is in everything.
